Monday's Bum Rap - How Our Perception Influences Our Reality

It's Monday!  How do you feel about that?  If it's something to the effect of, "It's MONDAY, how do you think I feel?" then we need to talk.  Watch the 17-second video below...

17-SECOND MONDAY VIDEO

So, I don't blame you for how you feel about Monday.  There is a cultural dialog around Mondays sucking.  You inherited this conversation; you certainly didn't come up with it on your own.  Now you might be thinking to yourself, "YOU didn't sit through traffic this morning, Jimmy, you didn't spill coffee on your blouse (and for that matter, WHY are you wearing a blouse, Jimmy!?)..." but we digress.  Never mind my blouse for a moment.  Your world is all a matter of your perception, your point of view.  If you go into an experience conditioned to think, "this is gonna suck" all your mind will do is collect evidence of suckage.

Come down another path with me for a moment... Why is it we party/celebrate to begin a NEW YEAR?  We usually do this for both a calendar New Year and a birthday.  It's generally an acknowledgement that we survived another stanza, and the promise of hope in the upcoming chapter of our lives.  We set goals, make promises to ourselves and commitments to others.  We start with gusto and momentum.  We are genuinely excited!  Is THIS the year we "break through" or continue the momentum towards our wildest dreams?  Well, if that's the case and the attitude, then WHY aren't we doing that on the 1st day of each new month?  And furthermore, the 1st day of each new WEEK?

It's Monday!!!  Last week is complete.  No matter what happened, good or bad, it's a part of your history now.  The beginning of a week can hold as much promise as New Year's Day.  There's some great work to get done, great experiences to be had, this COULD BE the greatest week of your life so far.  So start with a little mental momentum...

STEP 1 - give up that old, tired conversation that was handed down to you that "Mondays suck"
STEP 2 - give yourself some goals for the week, what can you move forward and get done in the next 7 days, set some mini milestones
STEP 3 - look for evidence of progress, and celebrate the small victories. A snowball is tiny at the top of a hill, but with time/gravity/momentum, it's massive by the time it reaches bottom

What will you accomplish this week?  Set some goals, right now, even little goals will give you energy and momentum!  Dream big, believe in yourself and commit to your own Relentless Forward Motion.  RFM, baby!

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."
-Will Rogers

HAPPY NEW WEEK, everybody!!!
